Are you asking yourself, "Why would anybody spend three nights in Prosser which is only 40 miles from the Tri-Cities and their home." Well, my answer could be, "none of your business" but if I thought that, what is the blog thing all about?
We stopped there because our NuWa forum friends (and now just friends) Jesse and Gail Rosson are work camping at the Wine Country RV Park and Jesse is a trained RV tech (and a lot more) and did some work on the trailer. There, now you know.
The drive from Memaloose was nice. We had forgotten how pretty the drive on US-97 is in the spring. Also had forgotten the nice pull after crossing the river at Biggs Junction up into Goldendale, WA (that area sure has grown a lot since I was a kid participating in the Goldendale Swimming Meets each summer). But that climb is more than offset by being able to nearly coast all the way from the top of Satus Pass into Toppenish.
I had Jesse replace the old converter with a more modern one that will be easier on the batteries and do a proper job of keeping them charged. And, he added inline valves on the seven water lines so that if I want to fix a leak on one faucet, I don't have to turn off the water to the whole trailer but can just isolate that one fixture.
All of that was on Saturday because Sunday was Mother's Day and we drove the truck to the Tri-Cities to visit our families and actually surprise our parents by being there a day early. I think it had been many years since we were with our mothers on Mother's Day. We also visited with the Warrens before driving back to Prosser where Jesse and Gail asked us to join them at dinner to help eat the ribs that he had been smoking all day. Yeah, we can do that. He and I realized that between us, we had five different tequilas so there wasn't anything to do while waiting for the ribs to finish but have a little tequila tasting. They were all good but the best was the one he brought back from Mexico (isn't imported into the US) that is aged in old Jack Daniel's barrels.
On Monday morning Dave and Trish Wood (more NuWa friends from last summer's Vacaville B&B rally) drove down from Yakima to visit with all of us for a couple hours and then we took off for Pasco. The wind did not disappoint us and pushed us all the way to Pasco and has blown for two days now. All is well is the world.
We are parked next to brother Doug's place and will be here for a couple of weeks visiting with family and friends and preparing for the next traveling segment of this unique journey we call our lives.
