I think we have only missed one year when we didn't stop here in Hillsboro in the spring and that was last year when we drove up the east side of the Oregon. My brother Scott, his wife, their kids, and grandkids, and our friends live in this area and that's why we stop and this year wasn't any different. Consequently, we don't do a lot of sight seeing when we are here because we are busy visiting with our family and friends - photos, ah, probably not.
Scott and Di have a new grandson and we met the little guy and understand why his parents, Eric and Kari, are so very proud. We also got reacquainted with our grandniece, Bella, but she was being a bit shy. Her parents, Wendi and Gabe have a lot to be proud of in that little girl.
Friends? Yeah, we got friends. We have met so many new friends in the last year or so but the ones from your youth are important. Typically, I lost touch with my high school buddies when we were moving about raising families and doing the career thing but now, that is all behind us and we can get back to being friends.
Pete Lorain has been a buddy since our junior high days. He and his wife Jan had us over for dinner - twice - and it is always such a pleasure to visit with them. Our friends Tom and Marilyn Hinkle (Tom and I can't remember when we first met but it was probably kindergarten) drove down from Seattle for the day to have dinner with us and a couple other buddies from high school. Pete and I had nominated Pat Horsely to the Pasco High School Hall of Fame and we had a dinner to celebrate his subsequent induction. It was a fun evening full of old memories and making new memories.
That about covers our Hillsboro adventures (we won't mention all the rain and the big storm that rolled through knocking down trees and power). Thanks to all our Oregon people for making our stay so enjoyable.
